Acid burned in her mouth. She swallowed hard; wishing the taste away. She clenched and unclenched her fists behind his back. His strong broad shoulders clad with a faded black t shirt. The words rushed around her head like a swarm of bees. They refused to form themselves into sounds, the silence becoming suffocating, juxtaposing the raging inside. He turned and locked his eyes onto hers; the hazel grew dark and weary as he deepened his gaze. He seemed to have this ability to look right inside her and claw at her insides. She began to pale and broke the stare. When she turned back he smiled at her, that smile that was reserved for her whether he would admit it or not she knew it. She knew what was going on but getting him to talk was like forcing blood from a stone. She was ready to walk away from him but she knew she couldn’t keep hiding. She would only end up in trouble again if she tried to stay away from him. A surge of energy enabled her to lock his gaze and try to force her message across.“I – we need to talk.” She stood as tall as she could.“What’s the matter sweetheart?” He stepped closer and she stepped back.
