In the Silence Between Thoughts

In the silence between thoughts
there is a feeling of you
like coy carp half hidden, shimmering
in jade green lily ponds
beneath a crescent Chinese bridge
smiling, sultry as sweltering rain fades
in the midday burn of a still summer's garden
In the pause between breaths of sleep
slips a sigh from your lips
silver whispers like muted moonlight
through ombré curtains
lingering languid, hovering heavy
wordlessly caressing
as I nest within the crook of your arms
In the hiatus between our words
there are your troubling tiger eyes
piercing, near pouncing from deep shadows
till I am unbound, unnerved
and trembling as a lone star
set on its divine destiny
to await your devouring in blackest night
