October 14th 2010…….

…… and finally the last of 33 men,
buried alive 2000ft down,
far beneath the grey-dusted ground,
is hauled back to the rim of the earth
by a skeletal phoenix offering up his rebirth.

And the tears and the cheers of the flag-waving crowd,
proclaims to the world that they're loud and they're proud
of the men who'd spat the dirt from their mouths.

As the glow dims from the media's lights,
Chile's future seems enduringly bright.
