England 2013 (redraft#1)

A rotten, bitter, false, despised and dead “queen”,
Is interred with an image of regal tragedy borrowed;
Yet, from out of the crowd that filled this fake scene
Truth can be gleaned for the meaning of sorrow.
The angry, the lost, the cold shoulder now turned,
The soldier the ceremony the silence inferred.
and there a flag fallen upon the departed,
Ignoring the smarting faces of the brokenhearted.
And amid the empty cheers of this amoral hypocrisy;
There many still stood, who had to count the cost
For this proto-fascists regime is a brutal folly.
As forceful as lions, the people’s song did so soar,
Stood strong the old miner, steel worker, supporter,
Against the arrogance of the wealthy: the real monster!
And here: among the ghost's of this old regime,
There could be seen a new hope, now softly agleam.
