The song was played over and over
More times than the White Cliffs Of Dover
In the times she has seen, and in times Oh so lean
We all sang the tune of "God Save The Queen"
As long as most people remember
From January through to December
Through all of those years, and all of the tears
When the king and His Queen assuaged all our fears
The "Blitz" it could never deter them
The rubble brought tears, she would share them
The King and His Queen were there to be seen
Most of this Century, so calm and serene
On the loss of her spouse, Oh so early
In a life with the Kings and Queens, pearly?
From Barnet to Bow and much further you know
She was Queen and Mother to Upstairs and Below
The century treated her Gently
Her transport a Rolls not a Bentley
Wherever she went, the necks they were bent
To just catch a glimpse of Queen Mum as she went
Sandringham, Windsor, Balmoral,or where
She held her head high and rejected a chair
But when the time came as God crooked his finger
As she'd done all her life the Queen didntlinger
So in 2002 with millions in view?
The hearse drove to Windsor, tears were shed old and new.
And now there she lies in her favourite house
Conjoined with Daughter and long gone loved spouse
