The Best Party Ever!

How original!
It was my brother’s birthday party, days before the party my cousin told me, “There would be no food there” I said, “What would be the point?,” For me that is always the best bit. I had thought about eating before I went, but instead had a biggish lunch; and if I was hungry at the end I could always have fish & chips on the way home. No kids were allowed and it had said on the invitations, “We were the Stars” but what did that mean? So the day arrived it was held in a lovely hotel, our names was on a list and crossed off as we arrived with one of his friends at the door. Inside the lovely room there were three round, large tables, a bar and a large flat screen TV high on the wall and a small dance floor. On each table were various bottles of wine, my Brother Andrew had asked many people before the party what we thought was the sort of wine our friends would like, like red, white etc. so now on each table were about 8-10 bottles of wine. Also on each table individually wrapped with the name and address of who had made the loveliest cakes I’d ever tasted! The cakes were placed in a lovely large bowl in the centre of the tables. I think we were suppose to have one each, but they were too nice, so I think had about three and took one home for our Son Daniel.
On the wall was the TV and on it was pictures each photo was as large as the screen, of the of my Brother and all those who he had grown up with friends, family, his children, school friends, it was on auto and that’s when we knew what it meant when it said we were the Stars. Whenever you remembered to look at the TV you would see pictures of yourself in the past or someone you knew it was great, it was just like seeing yourself on TV.
The atmosphere was fantastic!
My Nephew Luke who I hadn’t seen for years came and sat next to me and Paul. Then a man came and sat with the three of us as were early, it was just us three at the table. The man, Cole said he was a Magician he’s been paid to be there to entertain the guest. This is how we were seated; Cole was on my far right with Luke next to him I was sat next to Luke and my Husband Paul on my left. So Paul was on my left and Luke on my right, with Cole next to Luke. Cole gave my Husband a mobile phone and asked him to hold it. Paul’s hand was on the table the whole time as he held the phone, Cole asked Luke to choose a card and asked him to write his name on it, so as Luke is sitting next to me I watch as he writes his name on the card and puts it back into the small pack of about ten cards which Cole is holding. Cole didn’t see the card that Luke wrote on, so now he turns all the cards over and says to Luke, “Is this your card?” Luke replied, “No” then Cole put another card on the table and asked, “Is this your card” at that point I thought he was going to put all the cards on the table one by one, but instead he asked my Husband who was opposite Cole to open the back of the mobile phone and look where the battery is; Paul opened the back of the phone as the three of us looked on, and there in the battery section was a folded up card! Paul opened it up and unfolds it and it had Luke’s name written by Luke on!!!! We all burst out into loud applause, it was fantastic!!! How did he do that!! How? Paul added “I was holding the phone tight” Cole did two more tricks for us and then moved on to the next tables and left us chatting about it, as it was SO amazing. Wherever Cole went, there were cheers and applause. What a brilliant idea, to have a personal one to one magician at your Birthday party!
Next was a group of lads who did break dancing! WOW! How good were they! The small dancing section of the room was where the lads went and one by one they danced as the guests stood around them in a small circle.
I thought food was the best part of a party, but it was good to see ‘old’ faces again and catch up on what had been happening in their lives. Some had changed, by putting a bit of weight on around the tum. It was such a good evening; I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
Later on a guest who I didn’t know, came and sat next to Paul her name was Amanda, she said she was here for Andrew had inspired and encouraged her, when she had no confidence, she worked with him and he had encouraged her stop doing the Open University but go to University, she did and passed and had him to thank for it, them with her new qualifications she was able to do the job of her dreams.
I didn’t have any wine, just Pepsi and my Husband drank only the wine that was provided. We had a good get-to-know-you-session with Luke and swooped phone numbers and have kept in touch.
It was the best party I had ever been to in my life! Everyone who went there said the same thing and wherever they went it was talked about.
He has always been original, my brother ....
