Xarnoth the dragon sat under a fire escape ladder and gathered himself. So what had happened? The asteroid... the apparent obliteration of all other members of his species... the lunchbox... the eyebrow... and five million years.
Xarnoth had one stonker of a headache. Maybe it was the asteroid. Or maybe it was just that the music was too loud. Not having that, thought Xarnoth, as he shook down his wings, checked the sharpness of his claws and flew off to the source of the techno.

Ashley's older brother Ryan was hanging out with his friends, doing skateboard stuff on the tatty area by the football field. The neighbourhood was being "entertained" by techno music which was blaring out of the tinny speakers attached to Ryan's iPod. Ryan's iPod plus tinny speakers were resting on his brother's lunchbox, which had been recently purloined for that very purpose.
"Hey guys, watch this," said Ryan to his friends, as he turned up the music and did a flippy thing with his skateboard. "This is fucking sick," he then clarified, as he got on his skateboard, got up some speed and did an olly... or a nolly... or something. Which is to say that whilst traveling at approximately 2.5 miles per hour, he lifted most of the wheels of his skateboard a couple of inches off the ground. While he was airborn (ish), a little fluttery thing appeared in the space before his face. Said little fluttery thing opened its gob and spewed out a gout of green and yellow flame, which incinerated most of his nostril hairs and melted a good portion of the skin thereto to boot.
His friends concurred that this was indeed "sick."
