autistic persons aren't alike
though some may group them so
they're patterned like the snowflakes
that the winter winds may blow
.
their minds made up of many rooms
with hallways in between
in transit, they will spend their days
depending on the scene
.
when on the move, they may get lost
and know not where to go
a liquid starts to burn in them
a hot and fiery glow
.
their eyes may lose their focus
as a scream escapes their lips
their fingers may start flailing
till the fire inside them slips
.
there's comfort in a pattern
black and white, not shades of gray
a life of mathematics
where the rules will never sway
.
relief in repetition
of their cherished points in time
so that they'll never lose
the sweetness of that special rhyme
.
how beautiful these people are
be sure to cherish them
a lovely faded tapestry
a pure but cloudy gem
.
some try to lump them in a mass
but this must not be done
when you've met such a precious jewel
you've only met the one
