The Influence of Tides

Remember when we ran naked to the sea
but the tide was so far out, that we just gave up
we felt foolish and aware of our nakedness
our first skinny dip together in that unknown darkness
and yet we missed its deeper purpose, its irony
the opportunity and relevance of getting wet together…
lost was the chance to learn and thus always remember…
how uncomplicated the things we did really were
when we simply wanted, each other to be…happy!

Another lovely poem Rob.
Another lovely poem Rob. 'foolish and aware of our nakedness...' this line is one understood by us all - even if no actual nakedness involved.

Loved this poem Rob, it
Loved this poem Rob, it reminded me of when I was young and going skinny Dipping, how free and easy things were back then. Thank you for bringing back those memories. Congrats on the well deserved cherries. Jenny.

I like this. It's both sweet
I like this. It's both sweet and true. But can I make a little observation? Hope you don't mind but I think some of the commas are either unnecessary or perhaps misplaced. They break up the rhythm sometimes

I like the poem as well, but
I like the poem as well, but I think that the irony runs a little deeper. It is the innocent teens experiencing unfettered freedom without realizing the consequences. They have no thought of encroaching on other's privacy, space or values. An uninhibited jaunt into the murky waters of life. Bask in your Cherries Jubilee flambee award. A winning write!

I can see why this got Cherries Rob. It has a haunting simplicity about innocence.

I think this is an amazingly
I think this is an amazingly brilliant poem. It really coveys the feelings of the rush of that wonderfully foolish excitement, of wanting to do something out of the ordinary to make a fantastic memory, and then not only having to give up on it, but the embarrassment and vulnerability of finding yourselves awkwardly naked without purpose. So easy to pictue oneself in this situation and the emotions that go with it.
Loved reading this.

Hello Rob,
Hello Rob,
I just went red at the thought of how I would feel dressed naked and with no water to cover me. Oh my! Still it was dark, wasn't it?

A new spin on skinny dipping.
A new spin on skinny dipping. Just strip and let the tide ebb out. Your poem is naturally gorgeous.
