It was your smile;
The one that spreads light across the universe.
It beamed down on me and touched my heart.
Won my heart, I should say.
He reminded me of that,
When he said you have a lovely smile.
He doesn’t even know the half of it;
All he perceived was merely the overspill.
It’s a smile that lifts gloom,
That brightens the darkest corners,
That invites to be mirrored in kind.
It’s the smile I must have.
And now, although I’ll be forever dazzled,
I have this novel feeling that I matter.
Me … I matter? Who’d have thought it?
All this, and more, when you smile for me.

Hi Sappho.
Hi Sappho.
Such a lovely poem. You've really captured the magic.
