Turning the Pages

On your back dreaming dreams,
life and events from this moment.
The sun is warm on his chest
after the swim; refreshing
water bathed a wounded spirit
feels the grass, natural innocence.
Flip, wife makes breakfast:
two eggs runny up
two toast
four sausages. Coffee and tease
of milk.
Flip, waves splashing
an invitation to the shoreline
lashed by windy elements
from the far side of the bay.
Undulating calls, a loon adds
flavour to the day.
Flip, childrens’ needs and desires
young lives into older living,
too much too soon.
A wife’s love, enchantment and
bliss. Years whirlwinded
into meaningful events, glories.
Flip, rain comes as a shadow,
unrepentant and intrusive
shelters its hunger for truth
a smile tricks me into her heart.
