The Acrobat

The acrobat cycles a million colours
Some lift her an electric blue
Moments flutter
Soft quivers of the fluorescent lights
send him spinning to silvery lips
A fluid memory, he walks
the fine strands of hope
He sees on her brow
A final whisper
Of defiance
In the void of the drop
naked in love
or in sleep
thoughts become weightless
the kisses of butterflies
He spins,
languid,
A white-gold carousel
and they sweep him off
his soundless feet,
personify him with
faceless ovations
make him their own
with truthless renderings
But for a moment,
a single moment
when he is above the ring,
head in the stars
he feels the sores,
the heartbeats, licks them
clean off his skin
And he sees, once more,
her; art the stars
once imagined

A second piece from you - a poem this time and a damn fine one it is too. There is lots to like in this and I particularly admire the soundless feet image.
However the whole is greater than its parts and all that.
That you have managed to engender a fabulous relational aspect between the two in the full glare of the Big Top and under the wondrous scrutiny of the throng is really the thing that sets this poem apart from the crowd. At the close I am left wondering if he was spurned, or denied, or usurped. I guess that I'll never know for sure but I'm guessing at denied.
This is a great piece of poetry. ABCtales has a great, new talent on its hands.

I couldn't agree more with all that has been said, Jewel. You have a great talent for poetry, indeed.
