She stalks the pavement
as the street lamps glinting amber
pierce those eager eyes
Her best foot forward
on the prowl
in spanking black boots
Slender touch
thin arms like tassels swing
swaying with apathy
Past and present fates collide
in one hot minute
a satisfactory smirk she cannot hide
Scraping waves across her face
breathing in sync with every stride
such a saucy surprise
She follows the dark road
a potential disappointment awaits
yet she'll never accept defeat
Life is too sweet
and the night is young
The devil comes out to play
If she sees this one through
she'll be okay
Ask her to recall a time
pink blossoms sheltered her lonely head
when cherry wine was just a colour
She never dreamed she'd become her mother
The Lady in red gave birth to this city
it's agonising games
a reflection of her pity
If the Lady in red could leave it all behind
she'd become a woman of a different kind.

Interesting rhythm and construction, and the 'lady' is well drawn. 'Thin arms like tassels (typo there) swing' is a particularly good line. I enjoyed this poem.
