Child's Play? (I.P.)

He's says he'd like a Rubik's cube,
said Mum to Dad, one afternoon;
a birthday gift for Monday, next
so to the toy shop,both, they sped.
 
And,when to bed their son had gone,
they worked they fingers to the bone;
a square of blue, and one of red...the rest 
a Technicolored mess!
 
For three long nights they carried on...
Did that dude, Rubik, call this ‘fun’?
A crap idea, said Dad to Mum...
This ‘ere puzzle can’t be done!
 
To wrap it up they had no choice –
so gave it to their darling boy; eight
that day, to be exact...who solved it in
ten minutes – flat!

Hi there, Rhiannon.  Many thanks for reading and for spotting my 'deliberate' mistake.  Silly of me, because I had the correct spelling when I mentioned poor old Erno Rubik (its inventor)smiley  but have edited it now.  Mind you, 'Rubix' might catch on.  Probably best if I lay off the cooking sherry thoughsad

The answer to your question is, I never even tried, either. My husband did, and he couldn't do it, but our kids could, as easy as falling off a logsmiley

Wasn't sure if they were still around, but it seems from Google, they seem as popular as ever, if not more so and is arguably the world's best selling toy!.

No, Tina, I wasn't thinking you had made a mistake, Luke has it down on the Inspiration Point as 'Like a rubix cube'  so I wondered if that spelling had caught on! Must ask my grandchildren! Hope you have a nice weekend too. Rhiannon

Hi again, Rhiannon...sure thing, he has.  That was obviously how it came into my mind.  I'm glad because I do so like a tipple or two of sherry when I'm getting dinnersmiley

Thanks for getting back to me, and I rather like Luke's Rubix...Maybe it will catch on, but I don't think our Mr. Rubik would be that keen.
