Did Jesus die in March or April?

or, why does Easter move about?
When was Jesus born?
Unknown the date.
but in December’s darkness
we celebrate
the coming of the Light
to the world estranged, forlorn
in sin and lonely starkness.
When did Jesus die?
at Jewish Passover
– each year that is remembered
by lunar calendar,
and so sometime in late
March, or April comes the date
Christians the vital Paschal Lamb
recall, remind the world,
and celebrate.

Rhiannon - you just settled
Rhiannon - you just settled an argument I was having at breakfast with my husband. Thank you. I said that Easter depended on something to do with the moon, and he 'Poo-pooed' it, of all things
Great poem...love your explanation of why we celebrate Christmas when we do.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Nice little Christmas/Easter poem. Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox.

Rhiannon, I am a calendar
Rhiannon, I am a calendar geek so I am aware of 'computus', the church name given to the calculation of Easter each year. I like its moveability in the same way that I like old songs that have an unusual number of beats to the bar. However this does not make me a more ethical person.
Roll on St Swithun's day, July 15 and let's hope for sun Elsie
