For Ann

My auntie has Alzheimer’s and I wrote this poem with her in mind
I hold on to your memories
As you’re no longer able
Your eyes are so empty
As I sit down at your table
You say that you know me
But can’t say my name
The pictures in your mind
Fall down from their frame
You were back for a moment
But then you were gone
And now you are lost
Like a bird with no song

This is very touching, real
This is very touching, real and vivid. The slow bereavement, the mind swimming about, but not agitated. The brevity and conciseness and form helps. Rhiannon

So moving and accurately
So moving and accurately described. 'The pictures in your mind fall down from their frame'. That's perfect. It's great that so many of her memories will live on through you.
Lovely poem.
