Your handwriting

The letter you sent broke our hearts and I thought
I wish I'd seen this handwriting more
on Christmas and birthday cards.
When we came to visit you were gardening.
It's important to try and make things look nice.
We never knew you but when we needed you
you were kind and all this time we never realised
you had such beautiful handwriting.

I like this John. I'm
I like this John. I'm getting a reunion and wistfulness for 'what might have been'. I like the coming full-circle theme too. I'd like there to be a little more of it, the brevity perhaps less of an ally in this instance?

wistful
and in places i'm not sure who's voice is who's... or whose voice is who's lol.
oh whoops I enjoyed the subtext and the depth of feeling that conveys very well.
maisie Guess what? I'm still alive!

Like the form....
...short neat rows, (a tidy garden) so much unsaid, so much communicated within the context of the poem as a foil to lack in relationship. How little we know one another.
Good stuff John
all the best
