When I Am The Apple of No One's Eye

Will I be a daughter
after your departure;
when orphaned; motherless
and fatherless at fifty,
sixty, or seventy five -
the apple of no one's eye?
I never thought I'd have that
love-lack daughterlessness
about myself - deserted -
and orphaned; fatherless,
motherless, even at fifty,
sixty, or seventy five.
I never thought I'd to be so old,
afraid to say goodbye. Stay
a long while yet, I beg
and let me not forget
I am your apple,
as you are mine.

yes it's like that
I've been missing my father all over again--he's been gone for 12 years. When we miss our parents, I think it may forever be from that place we were when we were children and they were everything. . .

Hi Bee
Hi Bee
This is very lovely, and heart felt. I lost my parents when I was 25 - so felt these emotions most strongly a long time ago. But when I got back to the States to visit, I am still valued by my sister and her family, and the unconditional love of family is something that you don't feel from anyone else.

Parent-child bond is very
Parent-child bond is very strong and accepting, isn't it? My father died over 40 years ago, and my mother a little less than 30 years ago, but it is very precious to have known that care isn't it? And bonds with a spouse and one's own children, and the family of faith are very strong, though I suppose in a slightly different way. Rhiannon

Yes, got me in the heart. Its
Yes, got me in the heart. Its light touch softens it, but a touch of heavy's allowed. Parental attachment is an emotional abcess and a source of identification that defies all other bonds.
