I’ll hold your hand
for your own good –
you cannot see
the things that could
be dangerous, hurt,
or make you fall –
I’ll hold your hand
while you are small!
I’ll hold your hand
until I know,
when I shout ‘STOP!’
you will not go,
but come if called –
at once return, –
I’ll hold your hand
until you learn …

This is a lovely poem. I know when my grandkids decide that they are too old to be seen holding my hand, it makes me feel a little sad. It's nice being needed.
