A 5-year old’s bedroom (IP)

I open my eyes, and what do I see?
My own little world that is just for me –
the curtains whose shapes and figures I weave
into stories of heroes and make believe;
the cupboards and drawers full of ever so much –
bundles of clothes, special stones, and such,
bits of old toys that I use in a way
that’s different from what the instructions say;
the shelves with my books – some I’ve had for so long
(the newer ones haven’t yet grown to belong);
the fort from a box which contained once a ’fridge,
my brother’s old bricks for the railway-line’s bridge.
I love all our house, but this is my space,
this is my corner, the bestest place.
[IP: must contain the following words (but not in any particular order); 'curtains, contained, full']

Wonderful, Rhiannon. This IP got me scratching my head from the start, and this is a such a charming interpretation.
Well done on the cherries. Never more deserved.

Hi rhiannon
I too really enjoyed reading this, and thinking of your grandson's(?) pleasure in his own little world.

An endearing poem for a children's anthology Rhiannon, very visual, I can imagine an illustrator getting to work, a poem one side of the page and a warm, untidy cartoon-style image on the other although I like your photo too.

The image you made of using
The image you made of using toys for things other than what their instructions dictate reminds me of my son and his predeliction for using everything as either a hat or a guitar.

So precious :-)
Lovely work Rhiannon! I'm one of those who often use things in a different way to the instructions ;-)
Made me think of my own space growing up and how much time I spent there, allowed to be me.
Have a blessed week $
