Ashes

A nightmare
But no sleep brought this forth
Human actions
Hate
Misguided honour
Death walks in tattered clothing
Skin and bone
Hollow
Hopeless
Encaged, imprisoned, inflicted
Decaying souls
The long gone and the barely there
No crime
No guilt
Just blood, faith
Different, therefore wrong
Man
Woman
Child
Millions
MILLIONS
Gone
Stolen
Tortured
Treated less than the lowest of animals
Ashes
Smoke
Death
Auschwitz
Treblinka
Sobibór
Just 3 of the many names burned into the flesh of humanity
Never again
A lesson learned
No
Still it happens
Still death walks in frail faces and hungry eyes
Men
Women
Children
Born with the wrong name
Heart pumping the wrong blood
Praying to the wrong sky
Only hate is wrong
Only predjudice
Only taking a life because it follows a path different from yours
This deep dark scar
This open wound
Will never heal
But we will remember
And we will speak for the voiceless
You will not be lost
You will never be forgotten
Your lives
Your deaths
Mattered

Agree with insert.. here.
Agree with insert.. here. Pared down style works as there is no need to dress up this subject matter. It all still remains incomprehensible to me. I went to a holding camp in Prague and saw pictures drawn by children of smiling Nazi guards.
