The secret's of our pets

'Oh hello, sorry you caught me by surprise there.

Very pleased to meet you. Isn't it a lovely day outside?'

'You probably think that I don't get to enjoy the sun very much? I mean to be stuck in a goldfish bowl every day. I doubt it seems like a lot of fun to you, but when it's all you've ever known; a little bit of sun makes me smile.'

'Sorry, I'm rambling here, so have you ever spoken to a goldfish before?'

'No, oh you don't know what you have been missing out on, fair enough a lot of what we say is a lot of old bubbles.

Though one day a year, we can talk your language as you are now hearing for yourself.'

'That would also be my response right about now if I were you. I don't suppose you could drop a little bit of that food in here could you? It's just up there on the shelf; I'd do it myself but at my age it's not so easy.'

'Oh, thank you that's better. Do you know I haven't been fed for five days? Jenny normally feeds me before school....... but she never came home with her Dad.'

'I have been asking myself that question as well; I wish I knew where she was.

It's strange one minute she was talking to her Dad. They were stood right where you're standing now, and before I could understand what was happening he was putting her in that cupboard over there.'

'Well, later on when it was dark outside he covered her with a blanket, and they went out of the back door.

I can't see into the back garden, so I have no idea where they went from there.'

'Yes, he came back a while later. He placed something under the stones in here, which annoyed me as I'd only just arranged them. He told me it was "our secret", which was funny because he'd never spoken to me before.'

'Yes, you can move the stones; I don't mind.'

"What is it?

"Is that what made Jenny go to sleep? You know it's a bit of luck you came to see me today as I'd not of been able to talk tomorrow."

"You have to go?"

"Oh Ok. No, that's fine it was nice to talk to you. Oh, one last thing, could you please wake Jenny? She's the only person that speaks to me other than yourself; and, I miss her."
