Drum roll for the political candidate

Who made the biggest promise

Whilst keeping a straight face

A fanfare for kissing babies

And pretending to like the place

Where duty bounds

As they do the rounds

Smiling at people

Then smiling even more

At thought that they’ll

Never live next door

To those who give you the keys

To a life of greed seen through pink lenses

Taking bribes and claiming expenses

And toeing the party line

When challenged your get out clause

Is always stick to the lie

 

Remember those principles

That leapt from your tongue

When you pretended to be radical

Oh to be young

But look at you now

Sucking milk from the cow

Leaving voters far behind

When the lobbyists turned your mind

You saw the bigger house

And the second home

And the power to change lives

By wrecking the future

My that life of corruption

Really does suit you

Now you vote for war

And austerity too

Neither of which affects you

 

Every party is the same

Corporate recruits playing the game

Funded by the rich

To forever exclude the poor

Accumulating soundbites

And patronising quotes

Avoiding serious questions

By treating people like jokes

To be laughed at

For being stupid enough

To believe you ever meant

Anything you said

The media are no different

They also hear the corporate call

Here comes the General Erection

Folk voting for a handful of pricks

Who will happily fuck us all.
