The Ear Worm

I have a very strange thing
An ear worm if you will
And my head does constantly ring
With ideas that refuse to spill
The worm provides a plug
Keeps them all inside my head
I have a feeling he's very smug
Oh how I wish he was dead!
It's enough to make me fill with dread
It's enough to make me shout
There's so much that needs to be said
I wish this damn poem would come out!
I always have to distract him
One way or another
Maybe drown him out with a dreadful din
And pray that he doesn't have a brother
But more often than not he keeps all sorts of things captive
And nothing flows from hand to pen
I try to trick him in any way but surprisingly (once again)
He seems to have found a way out, he's really quite adaptive
He's not plugged my head for a while
I really hope he's not dead
Strange how any kind of block right now would make me smile
There's so many things that I don't want to be said
Just as I thought my ear worm was asleep, he gave me quite a fright
It's weird how empty I was without him
And if he was gone I would surely weep
For a writer needs to be just as stuck as much as they need to write
