Licking up the Landscape

Sweet, sweet, sweet is my time with you,
marshmallow in the curve of a chocolate half-moon,
tutti-frutti in a crystalline bowl,
seaside sundae never end funday -
not day not night, always half-light.
Clink the glass with a silver spoon
hear the high ring sing -
jump into a bed of soft whipped cream,
nibble, with delicacy, Oreo cliffs,
chip away at glacier mints -
our ceramic teeth will not crack.
Peaks of meringue crunch and dissolve,
nectar on our hummingbird tongues.
Float like tropical fish in a pink sky
where the sherbet air tingles.
Warm our toes at the tops of volcanoes,
pour bubbling hot fudge onto frozen vanilla,
delight in amaranthine knickerbocker glory,
here - take my last
melting chocolate heart.
