Verdigris – the fall of light
between the trees. In a clearing we lay –
looking out to blue; small patches of sky
and slow clouds
the ether obese with bird-song and buds –
bedazzling twigs. A suddenness – a confetti
of swallows, on an afternoon – made of
spring breezes, and narcissus;
the air – sweet with dogwood blossom –
tiny white crosses, hid deep within
a thicket’s darkling scrim.
There we found us a place we called
The Kingdom of Us and your shirt smelled
of pinewood and petrol and Woodbines –
you smiled that gappy smile of yours,
said, Race you to the top!
A copper beech – red as a beet
as tall as the sky. You made it look easy,
but I stood – feet firm on the ground,
till you taught me to fly.
Wanted to bottle your wave goodbye
at the corner of my street – if
I could have done I would...
A little blue jar to remind me,
forever, of that extraordinary day,
with its ordinary lies.

all I am trying to do now is to decribe your great words with my rusty language, but better I should stick to one word: "divine".

That's nice from you, Tina! Because english it's not my native language sometimes gets like a barrier between words and thoughts, but I will do my best

I will take that like a compliment Tina , but I think everybody is clever here. I always enjoyed your poems. For me the language(or languages) is not so important, the message it's the real deal. So, hats off to you too, Tina!
