Hand it over

It’s 9am and I’ve forget to pray
Wonder if the lord has got my back today
Baseball cap on and my rucksack strapped
Dizzy out the door because of the dream I had the night before
My boo in distress cus bills ain't been paid
Spent all our money on smokes, beer and all inclusive holidays
The job that I do ain’t really suiting me
Mail room clerk ain’t a job that’s moving me
I got to get my act together
Got to make my stamp
Got to make my mark
Got to try and make a dollar
The lord knows I need him today
Pushing a mail truck
From floor to floor
Posting pigeon hole
Letters for the man to the ceo
The devil on my back
Confusion in my head
My boo so tired from feeding babies
She still in bed
5 pm and on my way home
See the man on the corner
Throwing rocks to the in-crowd kids
Making dollars over fist
Surely I’m in the wrong
To waste my life pushing a mail room truck
Maybe I should turn my cap back
Slinging rocks and bounce to hip hop
Yeah me the big I am the heavy duty Mack.
I take the greyhound bus
Watch life through my window passing by
I take a hit on a bud in a paper bag
To try and ease the pain away
I know I should throw it out the window
Get down on my knees and pray
But this stress in my head is killing me
And this voice says what’s the use to pray
Because time is short
And the master holds the plans
I’ve decided next time
I’ll start my day a different way
Make bottles for my babies
During the night
Kiss their foreheads and hold my babies tight
Tell my girl listen todays a different day
I promise her come hell or high water
Everything’s gonna be alright
The lord showed me a vision a night dream
In the middle of the night
Saying submit your life to the creator
And everything will be alright
Tell him all your problems
Every sin, confess
Turn back and everything he will work out
So I’m trying hard after messing up so many times
I know I’m wrong
Tried by my own self efforts to regroup
But still I’m falling down
So I’ve set aside my pride and put my hope
In the one who loves me best
Love deeper than a woman
More than David had love for Johnathan
He’s more than a provider
A counsellor and more
An angel, a redeemer, a communicator
I call him lord.
I ain’t saying my life is easier now
But I feel a sense of peace
Now I feel a sense of worth
Now I feel I can make it
So next time you look at your life
In the mirror when you shavin
And wonder what it’s all about
Take some time to listen
Pray and let him work it out.
