Cover you eyes -
don’t revel in gore!
But unveil and observe
the needs at your door     –
no pretention of ignorance
your glance don’t avert
from those you can succour,
support in their hurt.

Cover your ears –
don’t listen to filth!
but let them hear, heed
when challenged by truth,
willing to listen,
think well and consider
closed ear and shut minds
the jewels can’t ponder.

Cover your mouth!
when follies gush forth
with minimal thought
and even less worth,
but with words forged by kindness
and wisdom, your tongue
can help those in blindness
and battered by wrong.
