breakdown
we sit in traffic,
the same place
the same time
each day; leaking
free will.
our wheeled tombs,
filled with smoke,
with spite,
with unspoken rage,
with teeth ground down,
with burden, and fear
and defeat.
only sometimes,
with the smallest moments
of hope and happiness.
we inch from one red light
to the next,
the roadside signs,
giving no warning,
death might be the next left.

Nicely done. Traffic jams
Nicely done. Traffic jams bring out the worst in human nature. I particularly liked the tone of confinement, frustration and anger....leaking free will. I got from that feeling of being in an inescapable place. Made me want to get out that car...walk to a green field. Thanks for sharing, thought provoking!
