Sick bed touch?!

Reassurance by a touch
must be with confidence, not such
as prods or pokes with icy finger,
or lets a tickly pressure linger,
for if the patient shrieks with shock
the visitor experiences
to nerves a disconcerting knock –
maybe he’s never had the knack
of gently patting on the back.

Beautiful Rhiannon. Made me
Beautiful Rhiannon. Made me think of how much I demand of my children and how I can be more understanding.

HI Rhiannon
HI Rhiannon
Confidence or lack of it can so easily be conveyed by touch. Like a weak hand shake is so offputting.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
I was so interested to read this poem, as I'm one of those people that really has to think hard about touch, especially when it comes to the sick. My son on the other hand has magic fingers, especially when he gives me a neck massage which I often need due to arthritus in that area.
By the way, the picture goes so well with your words.
Jenny.
