Night Visitor

My dad, he crept into my bedroom,
and furtively snaked off his belt,
bent double he fumbled out of each sock,
hopping around like a hen.
Then he shook out of his trousers -
pullover pulled over his head.
Unaware that I watched, as I watched him,
by of the window light over my bed.
And I saw as he tore off his tie
before grumpily unbuttoning his shirt,
which he balled to the floor - then got cross
getting stuck in his vest, by the neck, and it hurt.
I wanted to laugh as he rippled
into his jim jam top,
then stepped the wrong leg in his trousers
before dancing them up past his bot -
tom.
I think he glanced over my bed then,
but couldn't see me - my eyes tight shut,
so he picked up his clothes
and left then - never naked again, I thought, but
he wasn't brought up to be naked,
except if he needed a bath,
but a visitor slept in his bedroom that night,
and he had to get changed in mine, ha ha!
The End.

Lovely piece of childhood memory
Cute piece of of prose poetry. I think this worked very well -- made me smile, so it must have done!

'but couldn't see me - my eyes tight shut, ' from this I'm guessing you were quite young. How old were you? Five? Poor Dad!
