An ode to the Summer tourist

Get Outta My Face

Outta my way
i've got somewhere to go
you're blockin' my path
and walkin' too slow
why don't ya cool off
and go to a show
and get outta my face
right now

all I wanna do
is get back home
move your butts
to the side
try Paris or Rome
I really do hate to
bitch and moan
but get outta my face
right now

Why come here?
why not Athens or Peru
Why come here?
if you had any brains
you'd be in southern Spain

you're blockin' traffic
the pedestrian kind
and steppin' on toes
both yours and mine
I can't believe it,
folks, you're worse
than a mime
so get outta my face
right now

that big ass map
you're wavin' around
please don't ask me
try the lost and found
I really love ya
but i'm tryin' leave town
so get outta my face
right now

why come here?
there's a great big
world out there
why come here?
over here we all frown
so go to London town

stay if you like
just ignore my plea
Track 27 is waitin'
on me
i'll drink a cold one
and be very pleased
that you're outta my face
. . . for now

There's a touch of sympathy beneath the justified irritation. I like  the poem - can hear you reading it in my mind.

I did do a reading of it on my Facebook page, dear Bee. But didn't hink it was good enough to post here. Maybe if I work out the chors. It's pretty similar to It's Only a Paper Moon.

I had this same experience in Princes Gardens Edinburgh yesterday, trying to dodge tourists whilst balancing a swirling takeaway coffee...I can sympathize yet I'm sure the same abroad :)

Thank you, lovely ladies. Glad you liked it. It was one of those Friday night train writes. After muscling my way down Park Ave. on wat to the train terminal. Tourists should be kept off the streets between the hours of 4 and 6 pm. Lol.

This is fun and funky, full of New Yoik attitude. It could be a rap!? I despise those people that strip off at first sign of sun and burn like crackling pig, showing me their wobbly bits before I've had chance to line my stomach with breakfast of Marmite crumpet.

I always keep my wobbly bits under cover, Vera. Always wear a size bigger than you are. I'd rather look. baggy than saggy.
