Overcast, moody skies

Under a blanket of grayish black hues

Threatening all but the promise of rain

 

Today proceeds defiantly regardless

Of heaven’s whims

 

Let’s do lunch sometime – sanguinely, today perhaps

Unperturbed by any inclemency of

Now... Let's

Challenge that burning, foreboding desire to remain

Home!

Loved the grayish black hues Threatening all but the promise of rain, sounds like my kind of weather.

I'm a crab, so liked the idea of remaining home. My shell is where I'm happiest. wink

Well then it was good to entice you out then Jenny... and without Bear's heads up, the weather would have taken a whole new turn. Glad you liked this piece Jenny, yes that is a very common Cancerian trait, one I'm most familiar with, though I've found that once there, as long as crab isn't on the menu, they tend to enjoy the change in surroundings. Don't forget you're allowed to relax some time and let your shell down Jen  smiley

A clever acrostic poem, Rob, that covers, whether intentionally or not, the last two Inspiration Points: 'on the theme of meteorology' and 'out to lunch'. You should get Brownie points for that.

Thanks for reading and commenting Luigi, I was too late for the previous IP - but this one spelt out out to lunch.  I do appreciate that you picked up the positive message in it,.. cherries do not often grace my work Luigi... but I don't consider that to be a sign of inferior quality in the scheme of things, I choose to write in a style that requires the reader to consider my words from more than a singular perspective... wordplay takes many forms, subtle wordplay has a cost my friend... it is often too subtle to be grasped initially... wisdom is also like that I'm told! wink Take care... Some lovely word choices - sanguinely, and inclemency - love those, will have to note them down! I'm not so familiar with acrostic poetry, and enjoyed reading this. Always good to try new styles and experiment - and go out for lunch raining or not :)

Very cleverly written. I too like acrostic poems, but so often they do feel rather forced, but this doesn't, and the bringing in of the initial letters for each line seems very neatly done. I particularly like the lines Threatening all but the promise of rain and Challenge that burning, foreboding desire to remain Home! Rhiannon

Oh I do so love your name! And your comment... Thank you for both for they are truly appreciated. I think that perhaps the perspective and influence of having written a great deal of Haiku and Tanka had some bearing on the way I wrote this piece, thus not allowing it to be forced in any respect. I'm quite fond of it now that its colours are in the right hue :)  You take care up there... Rob

Yeah you did a great job of it. I don't think I have written an acrostic poem since school. Luigi wrote one too didn't he. It's really cute.

Yes I did disappear for awhile, I've been really busy building websites and writing content for them. Hopefully I can come up for air in a couple of weeks... I'm getting a bit lagged having to work to both Northern & Southern Hemisphere time zones, so these IPs provide me with an enjoyable break... now if I can just factor in some regular sleep into the equation, I might be able to rest my keyboard as well.
