The cook appeared to prepare
to pummel, slap and thump
lumps of dough to rise and bake,
and then to make the rolls like cake
spread caramel on top with care:
a celebration fruity fare.

Hi Rhiannon

This is fun, but briefer than your usual poems. Do you watch the Great British Bakeoff?

I've got grandkids coming later this week, so need to get baking.

Thanks, Jean. It had to be briefer, as it was quite hard to do what I was trying to do ie hide the names of three fruit in the text. Did you find them? I couldn't tell if it was too easy or difficult! Rhiannon

[Hope the baking goes well and the visit! I haven't really watched a lot of The Bake Off, but what I have has seemed good fun, and the one about sewing.]

Pear.  Melon.  And the best I can do for a third one is "Rise an" which could be an unusual spelling perhaps of raisin?

AE and rosaliekempthorne, glad you got some fun out of it! And well done to rosaliekempthorne.
AE — as I said to Jean, it's difficult when you're trying to set it up to know how difficult it is going to be, and whether what I had done was clear anyway. I'm not good at finding these things usually, but it's a bit diffferent to be the setter of the puzzle! Anyway, it just came into my mind as something different to try with the IP for fun.

Yes well done - it was very clever. Well done. It obviously wasn't too hard because your code was broken. I'm more an observer of people than puzzles but I liked it though.

These kinds of poems are always the most difficult, Rhiannon, which, unless you try and write one yourself,  is not always obvious, but you manage it brilliantly, and you have quite made my mouth water.  Today I made a bread pudding, so we have that for tea, with a little cream, if we're luckysmiley

Really enjoyed this, Rhiannon, and the illustration, too.
