Children of the Moon
Windows an inverted universe of windows that was what the great Crystal Sphere was, that and more, much more. It was a nexus linking past, present and future, a vast sea of remote controlled microscopic nano bots Alex and Kia still knew nothing about, but they need not. They were not going anywhere until they learned more, not all but enough for now…
Warm yellow light illuminated Alex’s new body as he pulled up in front of a particularly radiant polished stone. “Kia, look at this!”
She arched toward him, her will was her wings now and far more responsive and subtle. She slid up to him, beaming. “A forest,” she looked deeper, the scene suddenly shifted. Now they were high above Older’s Bed. Looking down they saw mighty pines, oaks reaching toward the sky with twisted arthritic limbs sagging with foliage.
“Someone’s down there,” Kia murmured, “I mean up there,” she corrected herself remembering they were actually under Older’s Bed.
“Yes, I feel his confusion and his loss.” Alexander’s eyes were suddenly floating in tears.
“They are all gone,” Kia said wiping her cheeks dry. “They took everything from him even his fangs, his claws, his fur, his crew his ship. We must go the Captain needs us…
Kian’s old truck was big, a real gas-guzzler, not that it mattered now it was gone. His new truck was big too, a perfect replication, except it ran off sunshine, plenty of that on the Moon. In fact, in spite of the lies the Company was constantly broadcasting on T. V. there was no energy shortage that was one of the first things Kian learned in the goop tank. That secret made the deadly surface mining not only unnecessary but down right sadistic.
Then sending people out to sift through Luna dust for He3 was never about energy it was all about entertainment, wagers, brutal diversion and heartless arrogance. The Lunans only true purpose was to keep the Technocrat’s ego fully inflated that and sating their dispicable lusts. That fact gnawed at Kian almost as much as his concern for Kia and all the wonderful Chimerans he still sorely missed.
He gave Penny a weak smile as she and Kress sat shoulder to shoulder in his truck. They wanted to see their new school. There was an eagerness about them that gnawed at him too, nothing was as it seemed. Nothing was truly wholesome anymore. He loved these girls but they were not the same, which made his love for them all the more painful.
“Well there it is,” Kian, said pulling into the large asphalt parking lot. “A big square red brick building looked back at them. The girls gawked at it; their mouths open their eyes wide with delight.
Large white letters protruded from the brick near top of the building Camelot High School.
“I can’t wait until Monday.” Kress said.
“I wonder if they’ll like us,” Penny thought aloud.
“Your classmates,” Kian asked, “Why I’m sure they’ll love you as much as I do.”
“You love us,” Kress asked.
“I adore you both, I want nothing but the best for you, never forget that. I promise to keep safe and well until…”
“Until we go back home, back to Chimera,” Kress suddenly interjected, “we are home. We want our parents, here with us,” Kress said flatly, “if you truly love us you’ll help us make that happen.”
A tired look pulled Kian’s features down. “I’ll do everything I can to make you happy.”
“Please do,” Penny, demanded, “that is your job, isn’t it?”
He reached over and planted a kiss on her forehead. “Yes it is and that I will do.”

Let's hope Penny and Kress
Let's hope Penny and Kress will get on in the school. They've certainly given Kian a hard challenge, to get the parents on to Lunar.
With so many challenges ahead, I'm looking forward to reading more.
Jenny.

Have got some catching up to do, but really enjoyed this nonetheless. I like your style, ray and the title is eye-catching, too.
