Man on the run
Out in the wilderness, hiding,
not knowing when
the hunt will cease. Patience...
he knows where the roads will lead;
success at the end maybe
but for now he can see
the aim; to lay low
and avoid his enemies.
Man on the run.
Who are your foes?
Who are your friends?
Sometimes it's hard to discern.
The distinction made clearer
friends ever dearer
when trouble looms close.
When you lose those nearest,
those who are dearest
to death or to betrayal and still
you're not yet done...
Man on the run.
Things may look dark, black,
in fact the present grim.
The sounds of distant battle cries
through the barren desert ring;
and destiny sets its terms
on the pugnacious pleas
of aggressive adversaries
amid hostile decrees.
Take heed; You're a warrior!
A fearsome soldier, a fighter
don't lose heart or
allow yourself to be overcome.
Man on the run.
Ask for strength, pray for succour!
God will not ignore your call
and all your tears that run and fall.
Though it seems you're all alone,
invisible, forsaken and forlorn -
Like the delicate dulcet
tones of the gentle harp
your anguish sounds notes
that ring out pure and true.
Moved with pity, he hears and
God will not fail to comfort you.
Man on the run.
Come out of hiding,
your enemies have been subdued;
The throne awaits true kingdom rule.

I like the way you have
I like the way you have worked the rhyme into this, not too evenly in the rhythm, which makes it more subtle while the reader is drawn into the story, feeling his plight, and escape.

You have gathered a lot here
You have gathered a lot here to think about and formed a fine verse. It brought to my mind also how twice David was able to show Saul that he had been in a position to kill him while Saul was pursuing him, but had spared his life as the king God had placed on the throne at that time, once by cutting off a bit of his robe, and once stealing his water jug and spear as he slept nearby.
