i wonder what the moon must think
when looking down from high
upon her bright blue neighbor
who is hanging in the sky
.
i wonder if the moon could know
the power of her pull
to make the oceans slink away
then rush back till they're full
.
i wonder if the moon's aware
her beams can calm a soul
or trigger fits of madness
till one loses all control
.
i wonder if the moon is glad
she has a darkened side
a refuge from our prying eyes
where she can run and hide
.
i wonder if the moon can tell
i've written her a poem
to give a little love and thanks
for visiting our home
