There you are

Sad...because
I thought perhaps there might be more
beneath the smells of cloth
and lingering scent of detergent, which to start with
I thought was all, had maybe been plucked
from the cupboard unworn -
handed to me, kindly wrapped around me
to keep the shivers from my bone.
sad... because
I thought the garment had yet the chance
of feeling the touch of your skin, or opportunity
for the fragrance of you to caress
the fibres and there remain until such time
for it to tumble and fall, to and fro
in swishing waters and chemicals
that will wash away the aromas of your day.
so with joy I found upon holding the cotton
to graze my face -
when suddenly my senses filled
with the salty, spicy essence of you
and happiness surrounded me.
Because there you were -
your arms wrapped around me
my face buried in your chest,
eyes closed,
gentle smile upon your lips.
You found me.

Rich with all kinds of scents
Rich with all kinds of scents, and the most important one,
'the salty, spicy essence of you
and happiness surrounded me.
Because there you were -
your arms wrapped around me
my face buried in your chest,
eyes closed,
gentle smile upon your lips.' - that's lovely. Smells can be the the most evocative of the senses.

thought this was really
thought this was really pretty. transferring these thoughts onto clothing works well, kinda liked the 'f' sounds in the 2nd stanza (fibres, fall, fragrance) and the 's' sounds in the last (senses, salty, spicy, essence), tied in well with the smell sensations. lovely poem, good work :-)
