writers cant be terrorists
only typing errorists

modern artists take apart
and urinate on rules of art

modern musicians make noise
shatter, loudly, rules with joy

progress dancers can stand still;
do whatever move they will

but don't think you can take a hammer
and smash our lovely rules of grammer

or spell words any way you want
'cause i'm here to tell you you can't.

Hi, Nathan. I just thought to myself, "People don't tell Ornette Coleman that he played the wrong notes on his saxophone but if he was a writer he would be constantly chastised for his errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation". Why are writers less free than musicians or painters?

I think people often try not to bother, but may find that they're not understood, and what they're saying is ending up meaning something quite different, or ambiguous, and mispelt words look like some other word … Rhiannon

But ambiguity is common in modern poetry. Dylan Thomas's poems are properly punctuated and grammatical and yet they are ambiguous. Why should ambiguity be a problem?
