(Girl enters from left, stopping up left. She examines her hand.)
What am I?
(She looks at her arms)
I am not a poem
(She looks down at her body)
I am not a play
I am something that is
somewhere
inbetween.
Oh but what is wrong with that.
(The girl cartweels towards centre stage)
I am something different, thats true.
But that makes me special.
Something new and unique.
I am the marriage of poetry and movement.
(Girl spins round quickly)
Can there be a more beautiful thing?
(Girl sweeps her arms elegantly left)
Language is the music that I dance to.
(Girl sweeps her arms elegantly right)
Movement is the music that I sing
(Girl looks at audience and shakes her head emphatically)
I am not a poem
(Girl pretends to be flower growing a bursting)
I am a grow-em
(Girl dances with happy flowing movements)
I am a flow-em; a glow-em
(Girl cartwheels)
A put on a show-em
(Stands proudly)
And I will show 'em
Show them that I'm
(Jumps up)
Something new
(Jumps up a little higher)
Something amazing
(Jumps her highest)
Something marvellous
Like a new kind of...
(Does star jump)
star appearing in the sky.
(Whirls round gracefully)
A new galaxy forming
Yes... I AM a new thing.
New
and strange
and
wonderful.
(Takes a bow)

you should give it a go
providing there is a venue you can get to. I've done it a few times and found i was glad i did (afterwards). they can be VERY cliquey events though. don't get me started....
