I have a picture in my mind.
It's you, your face,
my hand in yours,
clutching at straws,
that there may be hope,
a little more time left.
Time for a few more kisses,
a few more I love you's.
I see tears in your eyes,
bright eyes as youthful 
as the boy I met 
all those years before
with that mischievous smile. 
Now I see sadness in the creases 
that line your face.
I reach up and stroke 
away your woes, 
ruffle my fingers 
in soft grey hair.
I smile and sigh 
and tell you I'm happy 
and not to be sick 
to your heart,
because all along
all I had wanted 
was to grow old with you
and remain in your arms,
til' death do us part.

Great stream of thought. How about doing two endings, one as is and then one (following in three lines) as t' t'other part of the psyche? What I'm finding very late on as usual is that men and women are more or less the same in mind minus a few personal quirks. Love's like a film for both sexes; it has a beginning, a middle and an ending, and we instinctively have a story going on and that's what makes it so especially elusive and beaute. That we can re-experience it as a right so long as we somehow remain open to it, or not, were we ever made for monogamy? Jungle Book on C4 on Sunday night, yes.
