This Boy of Mine

This boy of mine
makes me wonder if I'm sane
at times. He drives me
to distraction with his antics -
he's hatter mad and cruel,
as much as he is gentle,
but at risk of waxing
sentimental, I'd rather eat my feet
than say goodbye
to this, this crazy fiend, this
heinous beast that lives
to rule my life, because he snaps
me out of maudlin makes me
rise each rainy morning
when I'd sometimes rather curl and die -
the leggy, lazy, crazy, blue eyed,
toothy, barbed and savage, cuddly -
loving, nice in equal parts as nasty,
fierce and feisty, funny, leaping, jumping -
I swear I love, as much as long to shake
him by the throat and thump him -
this boy of mine.

Some nice internal rhyming, Bee.
Always a conundrum with felines. Basically you're bringing a wild animal into the house.
I love cats, but I think I have a better conversation with dogs.
I think it's best to have at least one of each, although at the moment I don't have either.
I like my son's Beagle, 'cos she's like my grandchildren. (you can give 'em back at the end of the day )

Hi Bee
Hi Bee
Since your cat was a present when you first got ill, I can see how much he must mean to you - that constant friendship and comfort without any demands. But I still don't like them or want anything to do with them myself. But I enjoyed reading your poem and seeing how hooked you are on yours.

Is he a tabby point? I've always fancied one, a large male with a long nose, bat ears and a very loud voice, enough about my husband. Your feline sounds like great company and entertaining too - just what you need.

It's always great to have a friend, but if you have a four-legged one it's rather like two friends :). Lovely words.
