Afternoon gives way to evening...
red dogwood ablaze
in the sun’s last rays flirts
with supine shadows of a paling fence
only to do the same thing tomorrow
and so it goes.
A CD on repeat...Mahler’s 5th
symphony – turns corners;
meandering this way
then another,
with a hint of something else to come,
and maybe that’s
how I’d like my symphony to finish,
not with a drum-roll, or a fanfare,
nor a crescendo of strings
just everything coming
full circle...life a leaf, falling
off a tree
on the cusp
of a giggling stream
for an instant, pausing...
then riding on up
on the crest of a ripple
and then over the brink...
Magnificent, but
blissfully
unaware of it.

Hi Tina.
Hi Tina.
I couldn't stop thinking of the idea of this continuous repeat - the piece meandering off course to a non specific end. Guess it would still be Da capo al fine, but by then we wouldn't notice. I thought this was clever, and as usual, enjoyed the beauty of your description.

A lovely projection of this musical idea, and the piece weaves music and life wonderfully.'supine shadows of a paling fence' is gorgeous. Love your work
