A busy mozzie’s buzz

It’s buzzing around my head,
I wish it would go somewhere else instead,
slam it and wham it –
Zzzz! Zzzz! Zzzz!

Vibrations in front and behind,
that reverberate round
in my mind –
a stuttering sibilant sound:
Zzzz! Zzzz! Zzzz!

Creep and leap,
its flight-path anticipate,
to stun, incapacitate:
Zzzz! Zzzz! Zzzz!

My judgement’s awry,
the flit of the fly
seems beyond calculation,
for its compound-eye vision
senses movement and shadow
and this fool cannot follow …

but, sure now I've got it,
I saw myself swot it …

Zzzz! Zzzz! Zzzz!
Zzzz! Zzzz! Zzzz!
Zzzz! Zzzz! Zzzz! …
