Stumpy Toddy (Wren)

Busy tiny wren
ball of feathers brown,
weaving through the brambles
nooks and crannies’ tangles
unnoticed and alert,
perky sail-tail, pert,
quietly grubs around.
Emerging up to sing –
phenomenal the sound,
with quivering effort, thrills
to pour out rushing,
gushing, powerful trills.
Deep winter nights collect
together, many huddle
in numbers to protect
from killing cold, by cuddle.

I like bird poems and this
I like bird poems and this one is no exception. I like the easy sense of facility with words tumbling into one another too!

A great tribute to this tiny
A great tribute to this tiny bird Rhiannon. I especially loved that last stanza and had a picture of them all cuddling up together. Congrats on the well deserved cherries.

Rhiannon - this is a little
Rhiannon - this is a little gem...as is the wren. We have one frequents our patio. They are so tiny, and when they move, they are so quick and scurrysome (if that's a word...if not it ought to be one) that they are more reminiscent of a mouse, or vole. Wonderful little creatures, and as Jenny said, this - a lovely tribute.
