Mutter of mathematics
The path of a dumpling is never clearer
The sum of all yearning
Song of caged children –from long ago
Rhyming the reasons without reason
Negatives and positives all a whir
Comet-sized brains and drifting never occurs
Grinding down years, growing over hot
Square hypotenuses –sorry to interrupt you
How many miles per hour –sir?
Milliseconds or what kind of gloop?
Addition or subtraction?
Which way is up?
Calculus on curved surfaces?
Bedrock of the brain in a closed orbit
Chuntering like a bagpipe
Breaking apart
Black holes for eyes
Orbiting the room
Same glassy expressions of doom
Eon after eon –what happens when?
Answer is never fucking again
Evermore and/or plus/minus 1
Deep inner shit
Never to return
Sneak a look at the back of the book
The narratives clear why you’re here.

Love this, took forty two
Love this, took forty two seconds to read on a convex chair on the way to buy pencils, £5.23 in my pocket, a 6% discount, read it three times, twice backwards, one pencil was broken, Jupiter was rising, how much change did I have? Black holes for eyes indeed.

The answer may be 42, but I liked the thoughts in this piece of writing.

Aye! Jack.
Chuntering like a bagpipe...Brilliant, what a great word. I had to Google it, Of all the words I bugger about with, Chunter is certainly going to be included. The poem itself is, to me a wee bit out there, but then so am I. Apparently, you admitted the answer was 42. There yie are then.
Weefatfella.

Mathematical wizardry. You should have seen me try to tackle it. This is well inspired and mine deep.
