Two To One To Two
She was from Venus, I came from Mars
She loved books, ballet and modern dance.
I loved football, beer and football
What made me think we had a chance?
She was modest, shy, a quiet virgin lass
Hailing from the better side of town.
The smiling mask I wore to please her
Slipped to show a sulky, selfish frown
Urgent passions, some donated DNA.
She the pattern maker wove into one.
Her soothing angel soul
Adding eager ejaculations to an egg half done.
Like a three leg race we ran
And reared the tender flock.
Necessity combining, made a common goal
She was in a hard place, I stuck on a rock.
Habit made the sentence longer.
Convenience smothered different dreams.
We always walked separate paths together,
A base & brutal self; the other squeaky clean.

seems the right balance but
seems the right balance but the wrong lives - as always there's more than one truth.
