My own Lovey darling,

I'm writing from a new residence, having moved up to the Office where I have an exclusive apartment. Eric is with a married worker complete with baby & wife who are installed at Platt's old cabin. Sweet has gone out – for a few weeks & I hope for ever. Old Muir who has been away in Vancouver for weeks now, has upset Munson by being rational & I don't know if he's coming back. He's no miner but he's got a darned good headpiece on him and is a splendid man to work with. At present Munson reckons to run the show himself with Toombs (insurance Agent) as inspector and a man called Tilder supposed to be a miner and apparently quite a good chap as foreman. Munson is in Vancouver at present and Toombs is in charge in his absence. At least I think so. It is truly a wonderful show. Lots of gold up to yesterday but the weather is below zero now and the place should be shut down. But I guess Munson will try and mess around with those blessed rockers. Yesterday the clean up was 403 oz for 32 hours run. Still, I'd sell those units with your consent like a shot if I could get $10 apiece for them or even $8. You see with Munson in control & possibly without Muir's sense and restraining influence any sort of mess may be made of it. I must say that so long as I can keep in touch with him, I can get him to take advice, but he gets such weird birds round him. I've had some poisonous days surveying in the snow but the worst of it should be over in a few days. When I get that straightened up I hope to get away for a bit – preferably on business – i.e. on the cheap. I didn't get any letter from you last mail but I hope I'll get one tomorrow. I do hope darling that you are not having too awful a time about your passage and getting things ready. I do wish I could be helping you poor lambkin, but I figure that earning a few more dollars is really my best way of helping.

I didn't confess did I to buying a mackinaw $10.50 and some mackinaw trousers $6. It is thick and dark green check. I've also got a pair of thick long pants so you can tell it's cold 'cus I hate 'em long. Hope you've got some too. Do keep your darling self warm, honey. Blackie's well, so is Bugwigs. The former hasn't settled to this abode yet. I brought her in a basket tonight, having left her with the young woman who took over the cabin for a few days while I was getting fixed up. She was kind to her seems a nice girl and the husband was early overseas.

Munson will pile too many men in here and runs this show extravagantly in many ways – tries to be the bountiful magnate of the district sort of stunt. Eric heard from Cecil lately. Poor old Percy Lowther seems to be in his usual luck.

I do hope you are feeling fit these days old Pet. You' re a dear brave wee lambkin. I'll be doomed to be an also ran with you in spite of your thinking that you're just a tiny bit fond of me.   I'll have to 'cos you’re just the very whole world to me sweetheart and dearer every day.
