Endless Summer

Bathed in moon glow
Darting between trees
Giggles mix with crickets
Blending in nights music
To the Willow gently bent
From the Oak tree standing tall
Owls peer curiously
Frogs leap within the pond
Tiny feet racing
down familiar paths
up rocky hillsides
under cobwebbed arbours
The smell of summer in the night
The freedom of endless days
Call to the eager heart
To explore to its content
Minutes never fuller
Time never more abundant
Than a summer spent in childhood
With the world at your command

I can't do much reading on here on a Sunday, Penny, but I saw this when posting my weekly hymn, and just had a look, and could picture the memories and imagination of childhood wonder and timelessness of day and darkness. Last but one line, I wondered if you meant 'than' rather than 'then'?! Rhiannon

Those childhood summers
Those childhood summers seemed to last a life-time. If I miss anything about childhood it would be the glorious summers at the ocean. Really lovely post, Penny.
