Remember?

Remember?
Remember who I was before you?
Before the mistakes
The uncertainty
The fear
The promiscuity?
When I was
Steady,
Sure,
And balanced?
Remember how I loved with no fear,
Gave more than I took,
Fought for the innocent,
And forgave the sorry?
Looks did not matter
Money was just paper
People came first
And enemies? What enemies?
Hmph.
This girl was sweet
Too sweet
Almost sickening.
She didn’t talk to guys like you
Instead she read her books
Crossed her legs
And minded her business
Her plan was lined out
clean cut and neat
all nicely aligned
timeline moving swell
But influence came along,
Why she listened?
No idea.
Perhaps largely misinterpreted,
Contorted,
Misread.
For reasons I still can’t fully comprehend.
Intentional?
I can’t decide.
Conflicting approaches
But her mind opened wide
I used to think you awakened me
But today I am not so sure
Uncertain of uncertainty
Only the greater knows
Do you remember that girl?
She would not take a hint of shit.
I remember that girl.
I like her better.
